Dear Parents/ Guardians, I want to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. The teachers and staff here at Nyack Middle School are extremely grateful for the support of this community. The conclusion of the first marking period is an excellent time to reflect on the successes of your child/children and an opportunity to seek additional academic support if needed. Please encourage your child to take advantage of the various lunch and afterschool homework assistance opportunities offered here at Nyack Middle School. I have attached a schedule of all the extracurricular clubs that are offered at NMS.
Permission slips and money for our 8th grade trip to St. John’s University are due this week. The cost of the trip is $16 per student.
As the weather becomes colder, please ensure your child has a jacket or warm sweater for recess. Students will not be allowed outside without a jacket or sweater.
On Monday, December 4th, Nyack Middle School will hold an assembly featuring Mr. Thomas Grimes, former New York City Detective and an expert on Cyber bullying. Mr. Grimes will also be speaking to parents at a meeting in the NMS library at 7pm. I strongly encourage all parents to attend this meeting. Each year parents comment on the invaluable information and impact that Mr. Grimes’s presentation has on how to remain diligent of their child’s use of social media, how to protect their child and how to encourage their child not to become a victim via social media. Mr. Grimes has been featured on NBC’s Today show for his expertise on the topic of Cyber bullying.

November 22nd – NMS Early Dismissal 11:00am
November 23rd and 24th – No School/Thanksgiving
November 30th – MS Picture Retakes, 8th Grade Panoramic Photo (8:10am)
December 4th – Cyber Bullying Assembly for Students during the day Parents-7:00pm at NMS library, Presented by Thomas Grimes
December 12th – 6th Grade Concert 1:30pm, at NMS
December 13th – 7th Grade Concert 1:30pm, at NMS
December 14th – 8th Grade Concert 7:00pm at NHS
December 21st – 8th Grade Class Trip
December 25th – January 1st – School Closed
