St. Edward’s Tabbed to win the Baseball Heartland Conference Title The St. Edward’s Hilltoppers have been chosen to win the 2015 Heartland Conference baseball championship. The poll was chosen by the leagues' head coaches and sports information directors. Lubbock Christian received the most first place votes with 12 but was edged out by St. Edward’s in the overall voting, who received seven first place votes. LCU finished atop the standings in 2014 but due to their provisional status were not eligible to win the conference title or compete in post season play. St. Edward’s will be looking to repeat as conference and tournament champions during the 2015 season. St. Mary’s , who received the other first place vote, had won four consecutive conference titles before the 2014 season and will be looking to regain their crown. Lubbock Christian, Rogers State, and Oklahoma Christian can compete for the Heartland Conference Championship during the regular season but due to the fact they are still provisional NCAA Division II members they are not eligible for post season play.
