MATERIALS
METALS COMMERCIAL QUALITY (C.Q.) 5TEEL Strong and durable, this cold-rolled steel is the construction industry standard, assuring high-quality parts. Additionally, it is the base for most of our finishes, allowing these steel parts to be used in a wide variety of applications. SPRINC STEEL When properly heat treated, the increased carbon content of this special alloy locks its steel molecules in place. This gives the fasteners a "springy" characteristic that assures a tight, secure fit on flanges, conduit, channels, studs, T-bars, etc. Spring Steel parts can be installed quickly with a minimum use of tools and hardware. Introduced in 1982, Minerallac currently offers a complete line of these fasteners. EVERDUR This material is a red brass copper-silicon alloy that provides full compatibility with all other copper parts. Applicable to extremely corrosive environments such as salty air, paper production, and oil refining. This alloy provides maximum strength and corrosion resistance for these and other demanding applications. ALUMINUM Lightweight and very corrosive resistant, although not as strong as steel, the 3004 HI4 aluminum we use is ideal for jobs in which the weight of the parts themselves may be a factor. Also, every one of our aluminum parts have manganese added and are manufactured to heavy duty specifications, maximizing their strength. STAIN LESS STEEL These Minerallac parts are manufactured from Type 304 Stainless Steel. The chromium present in this alloy provides a non-magnetic feature and greatly enhances strength and corrosion resistance, making it ideal for almost any electrical construction application. It is especially suited for industries such as dairy, beverage, and food processing where the highest degree of sanitation is of prime importance.
FINISHES Whereas many other manufacturers use pre-coated steel, most of Minerallac's finishing processes take place after stamping. This provides maximum corrosion protection and compatibility with no unprotected edges. ZINC PLATED For these products, a coating of zinc phosphate is electroplated onto the part. This plating provides enough protection to be used in most environments. HOT DIPPED CALVANIZED Submerging these part in a molten bath of zinc deposits 1000 times more zinc than on an electroplated, part. The corrosive resistance of a hot dipped galvanized part is therefore much greater and allows it to be used in some of the harshest environments. COPPER PLATED Like electro-zinc plating, the copper is electroplated onto a ready-made steel part. The finish provides all-over protection and ensures compatibility with all other copper parts. ZINC PHOSPHATE This corrosion fighting barrier is applied to a fastener by tumbling it in a phosphate solution. Furthermore, a layer of oil is added for further protection. This type of finish is used on most of Minerallac's Spring Steel parts.
