Obituary Herman was born on December 25, 1953 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Herman Raines and Lavater Cranfield. He departed this life on January 28, 2017. Herman was raised in Chicago, IL where he attended Marshall High School. He worked as a Medical Assistant for 15 years. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Chicago and Westside Baptist Church in Decatur. Herman was known as “Bobby” to friends and family. He will be remembered for his brutal honesty, his green thumb, his love for his family and his ability to make others around him feel good, even when he wasn’t well himself. You never left his presence without laughing or smiling. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Cranfield; a sister, Arleana Sanders; and grandmother, Pearl Black. He is survived by: his son, Edward Cranfield of Athens, AL; daughter, Lavader Cranfield of Decatur; three brothers, Maurice (Rosemary) Johnson of Chicago, IL, Dennis (Sherese) Cranfield of Chicago, IL and Samuel (Shellean) Allison of Decatur; a sister, Gloria Cranfield of Portland, OR; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins; his best friend and brother in spirit, Edward (Pam) Ward of Las Vegas, NV.
