Why Propose Amendments to the County’s Zoning Code? • Chapter 333 Florida Statutes (Airport Zoning) amended • Florida Legislature passed HB 7061 and SB 1508
• Mandates new standards for airports/ lands around airports* • Zoning Code Amendments Required by July 1, 2017
* = Highlands County currently has Airport Zoning standards for both Sebring and Avon Park
Why Propose Amendments to the County’s Zoning Code? Airport Land Use and Zoning Controls are found in: • Zoning Code Chapter 2.1 • Zoning Standards must be consistent with Chapter 333, F.S.

• FDOT/333 Requires Zoning Controls • BUT FDOT does not approve
