November has seen many enrichment activities within our year groups. Our Year 3 children enjoyed a range of exciting activities including acting and using artefacts to help them understand more about the Egyptians. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 had a visit from Mrs Pakrash who helped them to learn about Diwali and the way in which this festival is celebrated. Year 4 dressed up as Romans and after creating their own shields and armour took part in the tortoise formation. Year 5 wrote incredibly moving poetry and then collaborated to share in our Remembrance Day assembly. Year 6 showed resilience and determination to learn new skills whilst at residential in Morfa Bay. The entire school and Hillview Early Years enjoyed a pantomime version of The Wizard of Oz last Friday. It was a pleasure to see what a high quality audience the children were and to share in their enjoyment of the story. I know that the children are busy planning their theme shares and EYFS and KS1 are just about to start work on this year’s nativity “Hey Ewe”. We are delighted that the children in Hillview Early Years will be joining in with the nativity this year. Thank you to those of you who responded to the questionnaire on values, we have complied all of the responses from children, governors, staff and parent/ carers and this is our new values statement. As with previous years the words which are largest were considered to be the most important by our stakeholders but all words included are part of our values for 2015/16.
Fantastic Charity Support from the Hillview Family A huge well done and thank you to all of you who helped to support the charities shown here and our own Friends of Hillview during November. The children spent Monday 9th November learning about the charities we have been supporting and the work that they do both in Britain and around the world. Congratulations to Jaiden and Henry in Year 6 who won the talent contest. Well done to all who took part, we were very impressed.
We are in need of donations of small world objects and puppets for the Haven. If you have any spare items such as dolls house furniture, minifigures, animals etc Mrs Talbot would gratefully receive them. Many thanks for your support

Celebration Assemblies for home achievements In order to ensure that enough time is given to the celebration of achievements from outside of school the first celebration assembly of each month will concentrate on these achievements. If your child has had an achievement outside of school which they would like to have recognised they can bring in trophies/medals/photographs/ letters/certificates on the first Friday of each month. It has been a pleasure to see the achievements from outside of school, which include (but are not limited talents in dancing, swimming, football, rugby, martial arts and craft competitions. The next home achievements celebration assembly will take place on Friday 3rd 2015.
