Position: Director, Scholarships Reports to: Chief Operating Officer Location: Gardena, CA Who We Are/What We Do Founded in 1975, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund empowers Latino families with the knowledge and resources to successfully complete a higher education, while providing scholarships and support services to as many exceptional Hispanic American students as possible. Job Description The Director, Scholarships supports the Chief Operating Officer in managing the day-to-day activities involved in administering HSF’s scholarships, including implementation, processing, and compliance. This individual will also support enhancing and streamlining the scholarship application processes, as needed, over time. The candidate must possess exceptional skills in establishing and maintaining systems and paying attention to detail, and must demonstrate a commitment to serve with professionalism, courtesy, friendliness, consideration, and confidentiality. Job Requirements



Key Responsibilities o Ensure compliance, disbursement, management, and stewardship of all scholarship programs o Recommend the formulation and implementation of scholarship policies o Execute scholarship grant commitments o Assist in managing scholarship operations o Plan, develop, and administer annual budget for approval to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines o Ensure quality control of application materials, external communications and correspondence, data entry, and data analytics reports o Establish procedures for monitoring academic success, and evaluate the effectiveness of retention efforts o Ensure compliance with applicable contract and sponsor requirements and HSF policies/procedures  Collaborative o Manage the launch and evaluation of scholarship programs o Collaborate with the IT department to enhance database and systems design o Work with senior staff to enhance and improve the HSF scholarship application systems  Additional o Provide staff training and professional development o Develop staff members by improving their understanding of all scholarship programs and related rules and regulations o Provide leadership and supervision to the scholarship team members o Perform additional duties and responsibilities, as required Qualifications  Basic o Bi-lingual preferred o Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university o Minimum 5-8 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in scholarships, admissions and financial aid, enrollment management, or related field, within higher education, non-profit setting or private sector equivalent o Must be committed to the mission and vision of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund









Track Record o Proven ability to synthesize issues and ideas and present them to constituent groups o Knowledge of higher education organizations and organizations that support youth and college readiness (schools, universities, non-profits, etc.) o Demonstrated project management skills o Experience working effectively in a complex, fast paced, and multifaceted environment Specific Professional Skills o Strong networking and relationship management skills o Exceptional writing, editing, and oral communication skills o Ability to develop, interpret, and apply statistical data in daily decision making o Excellent computer systems skills, including web research fluency and the ability to learn and manage various information system technologies, proficiency in MS Office applications and social networking platforms Management – Must have… o Ability to recruit, retain, motivate, develop talented individuals and engage them in the collaborative achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals o Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills, including negotiation and conflict-resolution o Ability to manage diverse relationships and interact with all types of people, at all levels of an organization Personal Attributes o o
