Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Since 1910
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 610 S. Kendrick Avenue has been used as a community center, dance hall, school, and gathering spot for many non-church related events. Holy Trinity was here long before the paved streets and gutters were placed around it. We literally have watched the city grow up around us and we have been there when our community needed us most.
During our 100 year history, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Gillette, Wyoming has traditionally been known as an outreach church within our community. Here are some examples: We were founding members of the local Soup Kitchen and have a crew that works the first Saturday of every month. The YES (Youth Emergency Services) became a reality with the help of a United Thank Offering grant and the guidance of Father Hubbard. Several members our congregation started the Meals-on-Wheels program in this community. Gillette Area Refuge Foundation (GARF) for women and children, PFI (Personal Frontiers, Inc.), RENEW (Rehabilitation Enterprises of North Eastern Wyoming), and the Substance Abuse Advisory Council for addiction and alcoholic rehabilitation benefit from the work of our congregation.
The spirit of outreach remains as strong as ever within the Holy Trinity congregation. But we have outgrown our blessed, old church and have begun to build anew. Our new facility will see us into the next 100 years—another 100 years of community involvement, outreach and ministry.
Our new Church location is central to our growing community. The property is in a highly visible location near existing and planned schools, near our community college, near more than one park, and near the new, county, recreation center. A population of approximately 8,000 people lives within one mile of the property. We raised over $450,000 in our initial Capital Campaign to purchase the land and make it ready for construction.
The developer worked with Holy Trinity to share the cost of developing the lot and bringing all utilities to the property. A construction manager has been hired, the blue prints are drawn up and the permit from the city allowing us to build has been approved.
