PREPARING FABRICS Wash, dry, and press fabrics. Cut off selvages and then tear or cut fabrics into 1" wide strips along the longest direction of fabric. For quick results, a rotary cutter and mat may be used to cut several layers of fabric at one time. Note: When the color varies on the right and wrong sides of a fabric, fold the fabric strip in half as you crochet so the preferred color will show. If the fabric is the same color intensity on both sides, folding is unnecessary.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in both loops of same st and next sc, sc in Back Loop Only of next 2 sc, (sc in both loops of next 2 sc, sc in Back Loop Only of next 2 sc) around; join with slip st to Back Loop Only of first sc. ADDING WIRE TO RIM Cut a piece of wire the length of rim plus 3". On each end of wire, bend end back 11/2" to form a loop. Hook loops together and twist wire ends to secure. Place wire along rim of Basket or Lid, shaping wire to fit. ADDING WIRE TO HANDLE Cut a piece of wire the length of Handle plus 3". On each end of wire, bend end back 11/2" to form a loop. Insert loop at one end of wire between front and back loops of indicated sc and catch rim wire in loop, coming back up between loops of same sc; twist wire end to secure. Repeat to attach remaining loop to indicated sc on opposite side of Basket, shaping wire to form Handle.
RECTANGULAR BASKET Ch 7 loosely.
