Cut (6) 2-1/2” strips into (84) 2-1/2” squares
Corner B 1/2 yard
Cut (6) 2-1/2” strips into (84) 2-1/2” squares
Border 1/2 yard
Cut (7) 2” strips
Binding 5/8 yard
Cut (7) 2-1/2” strips
Read all instructions before beginning. Seam allowance is 1/4”. Pressing instructions are indicated.
Backing 3-1/2 yards
Instructions: Each of the 42 blocks are constructed in the same manner. It is important to make certain that the Corner A squares are stitched into the upper left and lower right corners, while the Corner B squares are stitched into the upper right and lower left corners. This will give the illusion of having a Four-X block. 1. Place a Corner A square in the upper left and lower right corners of each 10” block. Stitch diagonally, as shown. Trim seam to 1/4” and press toward the inside. Make 42 blocks. 2. Place a Corner B square in the upper right and lower left corners of each 10” block. Stitch diagonally, as shown. Instructions, continued… Arrange the blocks in any order you choose. 3. Construct (7) horizontal rows of six (6) blocks each, nesting Four-X seams. Press seams open.
4. Stitch the (7) rows together to form the quilt top. Press seams open.
5. Stitch border strips together. Measure the length of the quilt top and cut two border strips to length (approximately 67”). Stitch to the sides of the quilt top and press to the outside. 6. Measure the width of the quilt top and cut two border strips to width (approximately 60-1/2”). Stitch to the top and bottom of the quilt top and press to the outside. Finishing the Quilt 7. Layer quilt top, batting and backing. Quilt as desired. 8. Stitch (7) strips of binding together, bind the quilt.
