Hot Tots! Prepping for School!! By Bridget Williams
Depending on the age of your preschoolers, your Hot Tots, or let’s say, your blossoming pre-teenagers, you too will be prepping for school. And, just as you thought , children’s wear takes all of it’s cues this Fall 2007—Winter 2008, from trends in “adult”wear. Funny how that works, eh? There’s the muted tones, warm hues and bronze and brown for Fall. Then, there’s our favorite, the Pazitos smart little ballet flat, even for the “wee” set and the cleverly cool Studded, Fur Trim boot (Stuff by Hilary Duff), Knitwear in organic fabrics, the soft feminine tulle underlays, the color “gray”’ (yes, gray), from light to charcoal and menswear styles, for girls and boys, in herringbone, tweed, and houndstooth. Here is your chance to rid the world of “PINK”. These kids are COOL! All the embellishments are in the “crest” on the chest or the “studs and stones” on the jeans. It’s a simple classy season for kids. And yes, Fur in abundance on jackets and trims, on collars, and cuffs. No wealth here, adding just a bit of whimsy and humor for Fall. Or if you’re seeking a bit more “hip-py” in your day, we love Minnetonka’s fringe moccasin bootie w/zip back with perhaps, a houndstooth newsboy cap by Goorin. Perfect for the “mix-it-up” style maven. And speaking of “Mixing it up,” have
you checked out www.stardoll.com. The celebrity “paperdoll” goes virtual website, for the girls. This is HOT! Of course my daughter keeps putting everyone in red hair and sky-blue eye shadow, but she picks the most elegant evening gowns. Well, she’s learning. Then there is the age appropriate “prep school” trend that we will all embrace. Isn’t it time our kids actually looked like kids? Even if their school doesn’t require uniforms, here’s your chance to put away the graphic tee shirt and terry cloth. Tartan plaid, argyle socks and sweaters, collegiate vests and jackets will keep them warm and polished heading back to school. Polished? Perhaps impossible. But at least you’ve sent your future leader out to take on the classroom, properly dressed to take on the world. All children’s wear styles may be found, purchased and delightfully worn.
