SWA initially created a master plan for this 1.25 square mile district made notable as the location of the Galleria. Working with Harris County Improvement District #1, private property concerns and members of the project team, SWA designed and implemented streetscape and urban design improvements to enhance the ‘sense of place’ for Uptown Houston. Improvements focus on enhancing this edge city’s quality as a ‘green’ downtown and introducing elements which provide visual identity, continuity, and hierarchy to public spaces throughout the district.
