Still holding overlapping fabrics together with one hand, use other hand to pull through remaining length of top fabric strip.

3A Still holding

fold together with one hand, use other hand to snip ¼” slit in fold at center of fabric.

As you approach the junction, a small loop will form. Carefully wiggle through short cut end of the original overlapping pieces. It will “pop” through the slit.

Pull on both fabric strips on either side of your new slit stitch junction.

When fold is opened, slit will measure ½.”

Carefully open fold, still holding overlapping fabrics together. Using index finger from below, find your ½” slit. Take the loose end of fabric laying on top and thread the tail through slits of both fabrics, pushing tail up from bottom through top.

Give a firm tug to finish joining the strips. Now grab another strip of fabric and overlap it on one end of your newly joined strips and repeat steps 1 - 8 until the fabric strips reach your desired length. ©Copyright 2011 The Creation Station Fabric & Quilt Shop
