How to Modify the Java Security Settings for AE Simulators Updated: 5/19/2016
Issue The Aerospace Engineering simulators will not run.
Cause The Java security settings are blocking the software from running properly.
Resolution Lower the security settings and add exceptions for the applets.
Procedure 1. Open the Control Panel from the Start menu. 2. Enter “Java” in the search window on the top right.
3. Double-click the “Java” icon so that the Java console window appears.

4. Click the Security tab and adjust the slider to Medium and click apply.
** Note: On Java version 8, the Medium setting will no longer be available and you must do the following step. ** 5. It is also suggested that you add the file location as an exception as well a. Launch the simulator so it gives you the URL listed in your current browser. b. While on the Security Tab, select “Edit Site List…” c. Add the exception using the URL listed in your browser. ** Note: If you move this location of this you will have to modify this URL Exception. **

6. When launching the simulator, select “I accept” and “Run.”
7. In the event that the simulators will not run from the downloaded file, add the exceptions using the process utilized above in step 5 of the following two URLs: a. http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/k-12/airplane/ngnsim.html b. http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/k-12/airplane/foil3.html 8. Run the game directly from NASA’s website and select “I accept” and “Run” when prompted.
