1.
Authority: Organizations MUST gain
permission from both The Corporation of Hamilton and the Private Locations they intend to Tag at. their own volunteer base or may seek assistance from volunteer.bm 3. Volunteers– Your volunteers will be essential to the day and therefore need to be confirmed in advance. Charities must sort out the quantity of volunteers against their locations and the times their volunteers are available. To help with this charities need to also know if they will have an 8 hour Tag Day versus a 10 hour Tag Day. Charities should also be aware that they can take advantage of service clubs such as the Rotary Clubs or Lions Club to assist with their fundraising. Tip#2: Saturdays tend to have the best outcome for a Tag Day.
Tip #1: When seeking permission to hold your Tag Day on a private location, it is necessary to send a formal request a year in advance.
4. Risk Management- Is a process that must be integrated into Tag Days to ensure the security of funds raised. Charities must adopt and practice the varying actions to ensure the safekeeping of funds raised: 1. Incorporate a central hub system of control that can be used for the safekeeping of the funds. 2. Allocate volunteers to serve as ‘runners’ in-charge of collecting the funds from the various locations 3.Distribute t-shirts and/or Identification cards that will allow volunteers to identify one another. 4. Ensure that a main Tag Day coordinator is in place and that their details are available to all volunteers in case of any issues or concerns. Tip#3: Be sure to gain AUTHORITY from the two parties aforementioned. This will allow you to have the most effective Tag Day.
