WIC SUPPORTS MILITARY FAMILIES
Both Eielson Air Force Base (EAFB) and Kodiak WIC clinic staff attends the military’s Newcomers Orientation to talk about WIC services and how to access the program. In addition to Newcomers Orientation in Kodiak, every new military family arriving on Kodiak Island receives a welcome bag with WIC information. Eielson participants are served once a month on base by a mobile clinic administered by Municipality of Anchorage WIC Program which provides a full range of WIC services including presenting a breastfeeding section of the On-Base orientation, secondary nutrition education, food voucher pick up, and certifications. The Anchorage WIC Program also has a WIC clinic on Joint-Base ElmendorfRichardson that has a full range of WIC services and is open five days a week.
