Her Fame This story is repeated in Matthew 26, verses 6-13, as well as John 12:1-8. John gives us an eyewitness account that is very intimate. Read through these two accounts, dwelling in John 12.! Here we are reminded of who else lived in Bethany: 3 of Jesus’ dearest friends. Name them and give their role that evening. If you are familiar with M--- & M-----, you will not be surprised!! Name!

Day 4 – Be Mary " Pure nard, pure heart, pure love This account of Mary’s actions really moves me. In what ways do you think she went out of her culture’s norms of behavior? That must have required a lot of bravery; what she did and how she did it was quite a risk for a single woman in her society. In what ways was Mary brave in doing this?!

Why do you think Mary did this for Jesus? Go deep.!
! Do any of these gospel accounts indicate anyone understood her actions beside Jesus?! What if no one else understood what Mary did? Do you think it’s possible that Mary was the only one who truly grasped what Jesus had been saying about Himself ? Relate this to Luke 10:39.!

! Day 5 – Accused and Defended" Berated Mary takes some verbal bashing for her demonstration of extravagant love. Think of a time when you’ve done something out of love, or with good intentions, and it was taken completely wrong. Have you ever been in a situation like Mary?! Jesus sees Jesus sees Mary’s heart and defends her. Write your thoughts beside each sentence:! “Leave her alone.”! “She has done a beautiful thing to Me.”! “She did what she could.”! “What she has done will be told wherever the gospel is preached.”! Dear friend, do you comprehend that Jesus sees what you do for Him? Others may not get it; you may be accused; you may be alone. But Jesus understands! He sees your extravagant love and affection and defends you. Rest and be at peace in this.!
Day 6 – Judas" We gain insight into Judas from John 12:4-6. List what you learn about his character at this point in being Jesus’ disciple.! After this verbal exchange, Judas pursues betrayal. What about this interaction finally broke his thin loyalty?! What warnings do you take personally about Judas’ betrayal, use of money, and slander of Mary?!
