MONDAY’S GAME Idaho State concludes a tough stretch of games, where it has played three games in six days, by playing at Boise State on Monday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on 930 AM with Jerry Miller calling the action. Following Monday’s game, the Bengals play at Loyola Marymount on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. (MST). The 4-Pack must be purchased by Dec. 23. SERIES INFO VS. boise state Idaho State leads the overall series 53-52 but Boise State has won the last four meetings. The last time the two teams met was in Pocatello on Dec. 9, 2009, a game the Broncos won 79-67. The last Idaho State win over Boise State was an 88-79 win in Pocatello on Dec. 1, 2005. The last time ISU won in Boise was a 64-59 victory on Dec. 28, 2004.

Scouting boise state Boise State enters Monday’s game with a 6-1 record after beating Indiana State on Saturday, 75-65. Boise State is 6-0 at home this year with its only loss being at Long Beach State. Anthony Drmic leads the Broncos in scoring at 16 points a game and Kenny Buckner is averaging 10.9 and 5.3 rebounds a contest. Boise State is averaging 84 points a game and shooting 49.9 percent from the floor. the week that was Idaho State is coming off a week where it went 1-1, losing 65-41 at New Mexico on Wednesday and beating North Dakota., 76-63 on Saturday night. In the win over North Dakota, Kenny McGowen led ISU in scoring off the bench with 18 points while Melvin Morgan had 17 and Garrett Swanson 15. Abner Moreira tied his career-high in rebounds with 14. The Bengals shot 51 percent from the floor in the win. Freshman walks on to floor Freshman walkon Garrett Swanson continues to earn more and more playing time. After playing only three minutes in the first five games (which all three minutes came against Colorado Christian), the Bengal wingman played a career-high 25 minutes at New Mexico and then came back and scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 24 minutes of play at home against North Dakota. Swanson is from Spokane, Washington.

Grabau is second on the team in scoring at 10.4 points a game and second in rebounding at 6.1 rebounds a contest. He is playing a team-high 34.7 minutes a game and shooting 47 percent from the field. He has 13 steals on the year and has recorded 28 assists to only seven turnovers. He ranks third in the Big Sky Conference in steals at 1.9 and first in assist to turnover ratio at 4.0 and fourth in assists at 4.0.

2011 • idaho state BENGAL men’s basketball • GAME NOTES not backing down from Tough competition With games at Oklahoma and Utah this year, Bengal coach Joe O’Brien will have played 23 games against schools from BCS conferences since 2006. All 23 games have been on the road and ISU is still looking for a win against a BCS opponent under O’Brien. Idaho State did beat Utah at home in 2008 when the Utes were still in the Mountain West Conference. Preseason predictions The Idaho State men’s basketball team was picked to finish ninth in the Big Sky Conference this year while Weber State was picked to finish first and Montana second. Bengal bites *Melvin Morgan scored 20 points or more in three straight games vs. Loyola Marymount, Utah State and New Mexico *Idaho State ended the 2010-11 season by turning the ball over 13 times or less in the final nine games of the year. To start the 2011-12 season Idaho State has turned the ball over 106 times in seven games. They had a season-low 10 turnovers vs. Utah State and had 11 in a home win over North Dakota. *Idaho State’s 20 overtime games over the last four seasons is the most over any such four-year stretch in school history. There were 12 overtime games from the 1999-2000 through the 2001-2002 seasons. *Idaho State has recorded double-figure offensive rebounds in the 39 games dating back to the 2009-10 season, and they had a seasonhigh 17 four times in 2009-10 and a season-high of 18 at Montana on Feb. 16, 2011. The Bengals had 17 offensive rebounds in a home loss to LMU. *ISU is 3-41 in non-conference road/neutral court games over the last four years. ISU is 14-9 in non-conference home games over that same time period.
