the daughter of H. Frank and Katrena J. Harrelson Drewes. She married Alan Ford on May 26, 1990, in Moline, IL. At the beginning of her career, she worked for the former Americana which is now Heartland Health Care. Later, she worked for East Moline Metal and Short Hills Country Club during the same time-period. She went on to work for the Isle of Capri Casino in the dining room and then in food service at Hy-Vee. Laurie was a member at Faith Lutheran Church in Moline. She enjoyed giving her time collecting aluminum cans and clothing for the less fortunate. She wanted to help in any way that she could and especially loved helping children. Laurie sponsored 2 girls, one in Kenya and one in Romania. She also gave her time to help the local animal shelter and Hurricane Katrina. Laurie truly had a servant’s heart. Survivors include her husband, Alan Ford, Moline, IL; brothers, Jeff (Carol) Drewes, St. Louis, MO, and Brian Drewes (Linda Gonzalez), Moline, IL; aunt, Janet Woods, Moline, IL; 3 step children, Angela Whalen (Dan), Moline, IL, James Ford (Mindy), Leo, IN, and Allison Rinehart (Lee), Marissa, IL; 5 step grandchildren, Anthony, Courtney, Kirsty, Joshua, and Lily; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Brent A. Drewes.
