The sixth branch of women’s clothing store Intermix (right), which opened a few months ago in the Meatpacking District, is as stylish as its new neighborhood. The bi-level space mixes industrial elements, such as metal ceiling fixtures and cementand-marble topped tables, with lush purple furniture, geometrically shaped lighting and sleek wooden panels. Known for its of-themoment, on-trend fashions, the shop provides a roster of “It” designers, including Cushnie et Ochs, Proenza Schouler, Mulberry, Rag & Bone and Thakoon. And with the southern entrance of The High Line next door, shoppers can show off newly purchased threads and accessories on their own surrogate runway. » Intermix, 812 Washington St., 1-646-480-5762

New confectionery Ladurée (below) captures the essence of its Paris mère ship with neoclassical décor and Barbedienne lamps. Sweet tooths can buy rich chocolates, cakes and pastries to take home. Or they can spend time in the cozy attached tearoom, savoring the shop’s signature sweet treats, les macarons—bite-size confections (made of almonds, eggs and sugar) with a hint of crunch and a chewy center— which come in a pastel-colored rainbow of flavors, including chocolat and citron (right). » Ladurée, 864 Madison Ave., 1-646-558-3157
Historic Grand Central Terminal is not only a hub of dining and transportation, but also a shopping destination. • Since 1993, the city’s longest-running holiday fair (above, left), with a diverse array of nearly 80 vendors, has been held in the 12,000-squarefoot Vanderbilt Hall. Handmade and often one-of-a-kind, the wares include clothing by local New York City designers at Paradis Found Designs, artisanal bath products from the southernmost tip of Africa by Rain Created for Living and handblown glass ornaments from around the world at The Glass Haus. » Grand Central Terminal Holiday Fair, Grand Central Terminal, E. 42nd St., at Park Ave., open daily thru Dec. 24
• Family-owned Kidding Around (above, right) has entertained children throughout the city for over two decades. At this, its second Manhattan location, just opened in the terminal’s E. 42nd St. Passage, shoppers of all ages can browse through toys, games and activity kits. » Kidding Around, Grand Central Terminal, E. 42nd St., at Park Ave., 972-8697
