INCLUSIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM
ASCD Student Growth Center is pleased to announce a new 5-course program designed to support inclusive education practices in international schools. The program is designed for general education teachers, learning support teachers, educational leaders, counselors, and other school personnel who would like to enhance their skills and knowledge in including and differentiating for students with varied learner profiles.

Introduction to International Inclusive Program Spring 2018 In this course, participants consider the characteristics of inclusive education in international schools. Topics include admissions policies, building a culture of inclusion, outcomes of inclusion, implications for mission and vision statements, and high-incidence learning differences.
Systems and Structures for International Inclusive Education Fall 2018 This course provides participants with an understanding of Multi-tiered Systems of Support, including Response to Instruction and Intervention and Positive Behavior Supports. Particular focus will be given to teaming and co-teaching within general education, including within Reading and Writing Workshops. This course will also include discussion of logistics for providing short and long-term Tier II and III interventions via learning support.
Supporting Families in Inclusive International Education Spring 2019 This course provides skills in collaborating and coming to consensus with diverse families. Participants will learn to develop high-quality ILP/IEPs with families that match each student’s individual needs. Other topics include, difficult conversations, supporting family involvement, and family-centered practices.
Teaming for Individualized Support and Measuring Growth Fall 2019 In this course, participants will work in teams to develop interdisciplinary growth plans that include measurable goals, research-based strategies, and a method to measure progress. Teams will implement the growth plans with students and use data to reflect and make instructional and intervention decisions.
Guided Project on International Inclusive Education Spring 2020 In this applied course, participants will implement an inclusive education project within their schools. The project will be participant guided with feedback and support from the instructors.

[email protected] Lee Ann Jung, PhD, is co-founder of and consultant for studentgrowthworks.org. She provides support internationally to schools in the areas of inclusion, standards-based grading, and intervention planning and progress monitoring. She has worked in the field of special education since 1994 and has served in the roles of teacher, administrator, consultant, and Professor and Director of International School Partnerships for the College of Education at University of Kentucky.
Kim Bane KIM BANE is an International Education Consultant and founder of PIE (Pathways to Inclusive Education). She is passionate about inclusive educational practices and has spent the past 25 years both stateside and internationally working and consulting in the field of student support services (including special education and EAL), co-teaching, curriculum, instruction and assessment, professional learning and school leadership.
Johana Cena, EdD Johanna Cena is the Director of Teaching and Learning at the American School of Barcelona. She has 18 years of experience in education, 10 of those years as an Elementary principal and Director of ELL programs in Barcelona and in Portland, Oregon.
