INSTALLING TOLERANCE BASED MACHINING This Installation Guide details the System Requirements and procedure to install the Tolerance Based Machining application.
System Requirements Before installing the Tolerance Based Machining application, ensure that the following System Requirements are fulfilled:
Supported CAD Platforms
SOLIDWORKS 2015 and 2016
CAMWorks Solids 2015 and 2016
CAMWorks Version CAMWorks 2016 SP2 and higher versions are supported. You can download the Installer Package for CAMWorks application from Downloads Area of from the CAMWorks website (http://www.camworks.com).
Adobe Reader XI The Adobe Reader application is necessary to view, read, navigate, search and print the manuals.
VSTA Plug-in for SOLIDWORKS/ CAMWorks Solids The Visual Studio Tools for Applications (VSTA) plug-in for SOLIDWORKS/ CAMWorks Solids is required for successful installation of the Tolerance Based Machining application. Verify the availability of VSTA plug-in on your machine by following the procedure given below: 1. Start SOLIDWORKS/CAMWorks Solids. 2. Open a part file or start a new part document in SOLIDWORKS/CAMWorks Solids. 3. The CAMWorks-WorkFlow commands will display in the Command Manager area. Click on the Tools tab in SOLIDWORKS/CAMWorks Solids menu. 4. Click on the Macro command in the Tools dropdown menu and then select the New… button from the cascading menu.

5. The Save As dialog box will be displayed. Click on the dropdown list available next to Save as type option. In the dropdown list, verify whether the two entries of Tolerance Based Machining viz. SW VSTA VB Macro and SW VSTA C# Macro are available in the list.

Warning Message displayed when VSTA Plug-in is not available If the VSTA Plug-in for SOLIDWORKS/ CAMWorks Solids is not installed properly or is not automatically loaded on your machine, then the following warning message will be displayed:

Installing the VSTA Plug-in for SOLIDWORKS/ CAMWorks Solids If you get the above warning message indicating that the VSTA Plug-in for SOLIDWORKS/ CAMWorks Solids is not installed properly or is not automatically loaded on your machine, then follow the steps given below to install the VSTA plug-in: 1. Open Windows Control Panel and select Programs and Features. 2. From the list of installed software programs, locate the SOLIDWORKS/ CAMWorks Solids program installed on your machine. Right-click on this program and select Change in the context menu. 3. The SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager will be launched. Select the option Modify the individual installation (on this computer) and click the Next button. 4. The Serial Number page will be displayed in the Installation Manager. Click Next again. 5. Once the serial number is verified, the Product Selection page will be displayed. In the list, click on the arrow next to SOLIDWORKS in order to expand and view the optional products available for SOLIDWORKS.

6. In the expanded list, place a check in the check box next to the product named Visual Studio Tools for Applications (VSTA) option.

7. Click Next. 8. The Summary page will be displayed. Click on the Modify Now button at the lower right corner.

9. Click the Back button. 10. Close the SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager. The VSTA plug-in is now installed successfully.

When you will click on the Finish button in the Installation Wizard on completing the installation process, the CAMWorks website will open displaying a message confirming successful installation of the Tolerance Based Machining application.

Verifying Installation of Macro within CAD application Tolerance Based Machining is fully integrated into SOLIDWORKS/CAMWorks Solids environment. The Tolerance Based Machining commands will be displayed under the CAMWorks-WorkFLow menu. After installation, two commands will be added as follows: a. Tolerance Based Machining with UI b. Tolerance Based Machining without UI These commands will work only when the Tolerance Based Machining application is installed properly on your machine. To verify the installation of Tolerance Based Machining application on your machine, follow the procedure given below: 1. Launch SOLIDWORKS/CAMWorks Solids. 2. Open a part file or start SOLIDWORKS/CAMWorks Solids.
