对不起对不起！我那是有原因的。 duìbuqǐ duìbuqǐ！ wǒ nà shì yǒu yuányīn de。 Sorry! Sorry! There was a reason I didn't turn up.
A:
你知道我等你等了一个小时？打你手机也不回，你说说你有什么理由！ nǐ zhīdào wǒ děng nǐ děng le yī gè xiǎoshí？ dǎ nǐ shǒujī yě bù huí， nǐ shuō shuō nǐ yǒu shénme lǐyóu！ Do you know I waited for you for an hour? And you didn't even pick up when I called your cell phone. What reason could you have had!
B:
我真的不是故意的，前天中午我忽然觉得不舒服，下午请假回家休息。 wǒ zhēnde bùshì gùyì de， qiántiān zhōngwǔ wǒ hūrán juéde bù shūfu， xiàwǔ qǐngjià huíjiā xiūxi。 I really didn't mean to. At noon on the day before yesterday I suddenly felt unwell, so I had to ask for time of work to go home and rest.
A:
不舒服是借口吧？ bù shūfu shì jièkǒu ba？ Being unwell is an excuse, right?
B:
当然不是。我回家以后不但发烧，还吐了很多次。 dāngrán bùshì。 wǒ huí jiā yǐhòu bùdàn fāshāo， hái tù le hěn duōcì。

A:
这么严重？但你也应该发个短信跟我说一下。 zhème yánzhòng？ dàn nǐ yě yīnggāi fā gè duǎnxìn gēn wǒ shuō yīxià。 Was it that bad? But you should have sent me a text to let me know.
B:

A:
好吧，你看起来真的很糟的样子，不像是找借口。 hǎoba， nǐ kànqǐlái zhēnde hěn zāo de yàngzi， bù xiàng shì zhǎo jièkǒu。 OK. You look really awful, so it doesn't seem like an excuse.
B:
我怎么可能找借口不跟你见面呢！ wǒ zěnme kěnéng zhǎo jièkǒu bù gēn nǐ jiànmiàn ne！ Why would I find an excuse not to meet with you?
