  International  Partnership  to  Accelerate  Cleantech  Activities  in  Denmark  and  New  York   City   Partnership  enabled  through  C40  Green  Growth  Network    

September  22,  2014  (Copenhagen,  Denmark)  –  The  Confederation  of  Danish  Industry  and  State   of  Green  are  collaborating  to  form  the  Danish  Cleantech  Hub,  a  public-­‐private  partnership   between  Denmark  and  New  York  City  that  will  accelerate  solutions  sharing  between  the  two   through  a  single  point  of  entry  for  all  cleantech  activities.     “Copenhagen  is  committed  to  sharing  our  solutions  and  experiences  within  climate  adaption,   CO2  reduction  and  green  business  with  other  cities  and  learning  from  successful  solutions   developed  elsewhere,”  said  Lord  Mayor  of  Copenhagen  Frank  Jensen.  “Copenhagen  and  New   York  have  a  shared  focus  on  sustainable  solutions,  and  to  achieve  economic  growth  while   tackling  climate  change,  it  is  critical  that  cities  collaborate  with  one  another.”     C40  Cities  played  an  active  role  in  connecting  the  city  of  New  York  with  the  Confederation  of   Danish  Industry  through  the  C40  Green  Growth  Network,  an  active  working  group  designed  to   bring  together  cities  who  share  the  goal  of  generating  sustainable  growth  and  spurring   innovation  in  the  technologies  that  will  make  this  type  of  growth  a  reality.     “Climate  change  is  a  global  challenge  that  has  its  biggest  impacts  at  the  local  level.  The  C40   Network  bridges  that  gap  impeccably,  allowing  cities  to  share  information  about  what  works   best,”  says  Kyle  Kimball,  President  of  the  New  York  City  Economic  Development  Corporation.     “We’re  thrilled  to  welcome  the  Danish  Cleantech  Hub  to  the  Urban  Future  Lab,  New  York  City’s   pioneer  resiliency  technology  incubator.  A  direct  result  of  the  C40  process,  this  collaboration  will   help  NYC  and  Danish  companies  solve  our  climate  challenges  with  the  knowledge  and  expertise   of  some  of  Europe’s  most  forward  thinking  resiliency  experts.”     Cleantech  investment  is  a  priority  for  New  York  city  as  part  of  the  city’s  sustainability  initiatives,   including  resiliency  measures  emphasized  in  the  aftermath  of  the  2012  super  storm  Sandy.     Decades  of  experience  and  more  than  2,200  cleantech  companies  have  equipped  Demark  with   the  competencies  and  technological  solutions  that  can  help  New  York  become  greener  and   more  resilient.     About  C40  Cities  Climate  Leadership  Group  (C40)     The  C40  Cities  Climate  Leadership  Group  (C40)  is  a  network  of  large  and  engaged  cities  from   around  the  world  committed  to  implementing  meaningful  and  sustainable  climate-­‐related   actions  locally  that  will  help  address  climate  change  globally.  C40  was  established  in  2005  and   expanded  via  a  partnership  in  2006  with  President  William  J.  Clinton’s  Climate  Initiative  (CCI).   The  current  chair  of  the  C40  is  Rio  Mayor  Eduardo  Paes  and  New  York  City  Mayor  Michael  R.   Bloomberg  is  President  of  the  Board.  To  learn  more  about  the  work  of  C40  and  our  Cities,  please
