I.

II.

A team shall consist of 3 players. A team must have a minimum of 2 players to start and continue a game. Substitutes can be made only after a game has finished. RULE 4 – GAME PLAY

I.

II.

A match will consist of the best of 15 games. The first team to win eight games, or the team with the most wins after 30 minutes will be declared the winner of the match. Games will be self-officiated by the players on the court. Players are expected to be fair and resolve conflicts on their own. Intramural Sports Staff will not resolve in-game conflicts.

III.

To being a game, all dodgeballs must be placed along the Center Line (Short Line) of the court.

IV.

Players begin the game with a least one hand in contact with their respective back wall.

V.

Following a ready for play signal by a player, teams may approach the Center Line to retrieve the dodgeballs. Players may not retrieve a dodgeball until the ready for play signal is given. If a player false starts, or is not in contact with the back wall when the ready for play signal is given, play will be stopped and one dodgeball from the Center Line will be moved to the opponent’s side of the court. This will repeat for each infraction until a team has all the dodgeballs in their possession. P a g e |1 Rev. 01.16

The dodgeball deflects off an opponent and is caught by another opponent before the dodgeball becomes dead, the thrower is out and the player off which the dodgeball deflected off of is safe; or f. An opponent deflects the thrown dodgeball with a dodgeball they are holding and the thrown dodgeball is then caught before it becomes dead, the thrower is out. i. However, if the person deflecting the thrown dodgeball drops the dodgeball they are holding as a result of it being contacted, they are out.

II.

Once a player is out, they must immediately drop any dodgeball they are holding and go to the back corner of their respective side for the rest of that game. Eliminated players cannot be saved or rescued by players who are still in.

III.

A player will not be declared out if: a. While standing erect, they are contacted in the head with a live dodgeball; or b. They are contacted with a dodgeball that is dead; or c.
