DEFAULTS Team Default Policy: The clock starts at the scheduled time, regardless of whether teams are ready. If a team is not ready to play within 5 minutes of the start time, a default is declared. Defaulting teams lose the game and risk being excluded from playoffs.
THE PLAYERS Eligibility: Our Spring and Summer leagues are open to non-students (i.e. Faculty/Staff, Alumni, members of the community) at no extra cost. Team Roster: Players on the IMLeagues.com roster will appear on the gamesheet and will be eligible to play. Players not on the IMLeagues roster may sign-in at the game, but then must join the IMLeagues roster by the next business day. Players not appearing on the IMLeagues roster by the next business day are considered ineligible, and their team is assigned a loss. Game Roster: Teams may have a maximum of four (4) players on the court at a time, and may have up to two (2) players of one gender playing at a time. Teams must play with a minimum of three (3) players to avoid a default. There is no limit to the number of players who can sign in (i.e. you may have as many subs as you like).
FORMAT Teams will be grouped into pools of 6 teams. Every night, each team will play three 18-minute games. Throughout the regular season (first 5 weeks), teams will be moved up and down between divisions based on each week's game results, with the last week of round robin for seeding only (teams will not move). The sixth and final week will be playoffs.
PLAYING EQUIPMENT Uniforms: Teams are not required to wear matching uniforms. It is highly recommended teams bring mosquito repellent and sun screen.
PLAYOFFS Playoff Eligibility: For a player to be considered eligible for the playoffs they must have signed-in and played in at least one (1) game. It is the team Captain’s responsibility to ensure all players sign in prior to game time. Players that do not sign-in are not given credit for having played. 2016-2017 Version
LAWS OF THE GAME Please go to www.fivb.com for the complete set of rules. Important rules to keep in mind: •
No setting or volleying the first contact
•
Setting or volleying a ball must be “clean” – meaning very little spin and no carry
•
No open hand tips: tips must be a roll shot, cobra, etc. (e.g. use of knuckles)
•
A block counts as a hit
•
In the lowest pool/division, players must rotate after five serves (the team retains serve, but a teammate serves)
