Intro to Curved Piecing and Quilting with Decorative Threads Supplies and equipment to bring to class Your sewing machine – in working order with The manual and all of the parts Clean and oil your machine before class Free-motion hopping foot, Walking foot and Couching foot. Not sure what your feet are used for, bring them. Basic sewing basket supplies including 1 hand sewing needle A notebook to cover Fabric ½ yard of main fabric 1 fat quarter of accent color or a 2 ½” strip of accent color 1 fat quarter of coordinating color that reads as solid (This will be thread quilted with your fancy threads and yarns.) A piece of light weight batting a little bigger than the outside of your notebook, all the way around, front and back ½ yard medium weight fusible interfacing A practice quilt sandwich – use muslin or solid light colored fabric and the same batting as you are using for the notebook cover Threads, Trims and Yarns Regular sewing thread for piecing 1 metallic thread 1 60# bobbin thread (very fine thin thread) – You may use a 50# if you can’t find the 60#. A variety of Polyester, Rayon and Cotton threads in a variety of weights o 30#, 40#, 50# Pearl Cotton Balls – 1 or more o Nō.16, Nō.8, Nō.5, Nō.3 A variety of yarns and flat trims – (You don’t need a lot, just a few. 1 yard pieces work fine.) o Yarns that are: fuzzy, nubby, ribbon like. Will be used for couching so nothing too thick and heavy Sewing Machine Needles Metallic 90/14, Topstitch 80/12, 90/14, Quilting 75/11 Rotary cutting tools: Cutting mat (medium sized) Rotary cutter – 28mm, or 45mm *with a new blade Rotary ruler 6”x12” (and optional 1”x6” ruler) Optional: Curved pointed scissors Camera
