WHAT DOES IOWA STATE OFFER IN DES MOINES?
CONTACT US 2200 Gerdin Building Ames, Iowa 50011 www.business.iastate.edu
Working professionals can earn an MBA by taking classes part-time in our Capital Square office in downtown Des Moines. It’s a full-time education on a part-time basis, taught by the same quality faculty as our program on campus. We also offer a graduate certificate for our master of business analytics program. It’s designed for working professionals with at least two years of experience
in a data analytics field. Why the push for big data? Because 90 percent of the data in the world today has been created in the last two years. Only 18 percent of companies believe they have the skills necessary to gather and use insights effectively. This is a growing field and we’re helping students and young professionals prepare for the demand.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE STUDENTS TO BE WORKFORCE READY?
HOW IS YOUR LOCATION AN ADVANTAGE?
Workforce readiness is about breadth of experience. It’s about having a broad education in the liberal arts and sciences, but also professional learning and experiential learning. Our students participate broadly in undergraduate research, servicelearning, internships and study abroad—we make opportunities for students to encounter these things.
In Pella, we’re affiliated with many robust organizations—schools, health care, international engineering and technology companies—for internships and job shadowing. Pella is also part of the Greater Des Moines Partnership region, so we have easy access to opportunities in the state capital. In Des Moines we partner with a full range of companies and not-for-profits to provide hands-on opportunities for students.
A Central education forces students to engage and think critically. Through having to use those skills, they graduate feeling competent and confident— and that yields creativity.
WHY CHOOSE CENTRAL? •
The highest-quality academics plus an unparalleled community of mentors, friends and supporters.
•
Numerous opportunities to explore the world with study and internships abroad.
•
Professors are mentors, ready to lend an ear or give advice on jobs and graduate school.
WHY LIBERAL ARTS? We hear a lot about a skills gap in new employees— most often communication and critical-thinking are lacking. Employers need these “soft skills,” and we are providing extensive preparation in communicating and working with others.

HOW IS CENTRAL FOCUSING ON STEM?
CONTACT US 812 University St. Pella, IA 50219 1-877-462-3687 www.central.edu
We see STEM as an important part of the liberal arts—all students need basic science literacy. We’re seeing a blending and merging of science disciplines, which is why our engineering program is mechanical-electrical. Engineers in advanced manufacturing need a knowledge of both. Our engineering graduates are also required to take the entire liberal arts core, so they bring broad knowledge to their industries.

Central’s 73 academic programs include pre-professional tracks. Zero classes are taught by teaching assistants.
