Activities include a corn maze, apple slingshots, giant Yahtzee, giant Jenga, human foosball, and more! We will meet at church at 2:45 p.m. and return around 6:45 p.m. If you have not filled out an emergency medical form this year, or it needs to be updated, please get one from Amy or download it from the church website (www.FirstChristianChurch.org/children-youth), complete it, and return it as soon as possible. If you are not sure whether yours is up-to-date, check with Amy.
Cereal Boxes Needed
Amy is in need of about 30 more empty cereal boxes, or any similar-sized cardboard boxes, to create an interactive Bible bookcase for FIRSTKIDS!. Please bring donated boxes to Amy’s office and place in the marked bin.
September Needs
• We are collecting ramen noodles and spam for the First Ashland food pantry. • Shelter of Hope needs toilet paper, powdered laundry detergent, and baggies.
Volunteer Trunks Needed
The Christian Education department is hosting Trunk-or-Treat on Thursday, October 29 from 6-7 p.m. We need volunteers to bring their vehicles and pass out candy from their trunks to approximately 75 children. You are encouraged to decorate your trunk (nothing too scary, please)! If you do not want to use your vehicle, tables will also be set up inside for you to pass out your treats! If you are interested in participating in this fun-filled evening for our kids, please sign up at the table in the Narthex.
Coffee Fellowship Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed to host coffee fellowship following Morning Worship. Please consider signing up for one Sunday. Provide the refreshments; receive the blessing of bringing the church family together in fellowship. A sign up schedule is available on the table in the Narthex.
Let’s Talk
“Let’s Talk” will outline the upcoming lesson for each of our children and youth ministries. The goal is to make parents and church members aware of what our young ones are learning so meaningful conversations can be started and specific prayers can be offered to God. Sunday, September 27 FIRSTKIDS!: Today, we learned how Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal. True heroes, like Elijah, stand up for God. This is our final lesson in the Bible Heroes unit with our key verse being Joshua 1:9, “Be strong and courageous!” Youth Sunday School: We studied Genesis 1:26-28 by thinking about how we are created in the image of God and what it means for us to bear that image. We also read Acts 17:24-27 and learned how Paul used this Genesis scripture to teach Gentiles about our God. Chi-Rho/CYF: We will review the patriarchs of our faith and how their stories fit together. We will talk about how God is faithful to all of these people as he said he would be. We’ll then walk to the park to play soccer. Wednesday, September 30 St. Andrew’s Kids: Through the story of Sarah and Abraham having a child, we will learn that God sometimes surprises us, just like he surprised Sarah. God can do what is impossible for us and we can trust God to follow through on his promises.
