Grow 1. Read Genesis 22: 1-19 2. What does God want from Abraham? 3. For whose benefit does God see how far Abraham is willing to go? His own? Abraham’s? Isaac’s? The reader’s? 4. After Abraham passes his test, how does God respond (v. 15-19)? 5. Are you being tested right now? How are you responding? 6. How have you personally experienced God’s mercy and provision during difficult circumstances? 7. Read Matthew 27: 32-56 8. How does Genesis 22 parallel the crucifixion of Jesus? 9. How are the two situations different? What is important about those differences 10. What is the most important lesson you learned from these two stories?
Honor Father God, the Old Testament whispers the story of Jesus. Your mercy and provision are proven again and again. As we search the scriptures, allow us to see the glory and wonder of how Christ is in all things.
