JAMES HOCKNEY Prospective MP for Barnsley East Dear Resident, If we are to have a bright future for Barnsley East you will need to elect an MP on May 6th who will fight for the local economy and job creation. Staying in Wombwell and actively campaigning across Barnsley East this is clearly a key issue. I have run two successful businesses and my father ran a successful international manufacturing company. So I do understand the very serious challenges facing the local economy in the real world. Under this Government we have: 1. Lost 1.7 million manufacturing jobs in the last two years 2. We have been the last G20 economy emerging from recession 3. Dropped from 4th in the world for tax & regulation to 84th/86th 4. More businesses have gone to the wall than in any other recession Taking action locally: I have already taken action and launched a ‘shop local’ campaign to promote and support our small shops. They are the backbone of the local economy and jobs so are crucial to the future of the local area. My campaign to be your MP was launched in November. I have met thousands of local residents on the doorstep. Many of you have said how good it is to see someone young standing. At 31 year old I feel ready to serve as your MP. I have worked in the real world all my life and taken on challenges at a young age. I started my first business at 16, wrote for an Astronomy magazine at 18, became a Parish Councillor at 21, started my second business at 22, and was elected as a District Councillor at 25. I was not born into politics, I chose it. I am passionate about making a difference and feel the frustration of what has been going on in the Westminster bubble. The election locally for MP is a clear two horse race between myself and the labour candidate. If you elect me as your MP I will fight hard for Barnsley East, already I have done much hard work as featured in this leaflet. Thank you for reading. Best Regards
