Trumpet Fest ‘15

On Jan. 24, the Andover Central High School Jaguar Band and the Wichita State University Trumpet Studio will host the first annual Trumpet Fest ‘15 at Andover Central High School. The guest artist is Dr. David Hunsicker, principal Trumpet for the Wichita Symphony and Professor of Trumpet at Wichita State University. The clinic and concert are open to area trumpet players grades 5-12. The fee is $20 which includes performing with the Trumpet Fest Trumpet Choir, a pizza lunch and clinic fees. Featured performing groups will include the Trumpet Fest 2015 Mass Trumpet Choir, the WSU Trumpet Choir and the WSU Jazz Ensemble. Please contact Craig Gray at ACHS for more information.

AHS One Act Plays The Andover High School thespian department will host their annual One Act Plays this weekend. The five plays are directed by senior Thespian Troupe members. The plays start at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24. Admission is $5.00.

Scott Wilson is the board president and has been a board member since 2011. He has served as president for two years. Scott is a financial planner at HW Capital Management and is married to Susie. They have two children who both attend Andover schools. Scott is very active in the community and has served on many community boards and coached multiple youth sports teams. Melinda Fritze serves as the board’s vice president and has been a board member since 2011. As a board member, she has a particular interest in following and influencing legislation which affects public education in our state. Melinda has been married to Mark for 30 years and has four children- two graduates and two current students of Andover schools. In her free time, Melinda enjoys reading, exercising and serving as a mentor to a middle school student. Dr. Linda Hope has been a board member since 2001. Linda is an elementary principal. She and her husband have two children, both of whom graduated from Andover schools. Linda is an avid University of Kansas fan and in her spare time, she travels all over the country to follow the Jayhawks football and basketball teams.
