January 31, 2018 Dear Players and Parents: When we first started awarding Excellence Grants the criteria was based on the player’s birth year; then in 2016 it was changed to birth month. After careful consideration, the Men’s Tennis Department has decided to switch it back to the original criteria based on the player’s birth year to align around the ITF Junior schedule which is based on birth year. We understand this was an unexpected change for the Players and Parents. With that in mind, we have decided that for this year only we will accept both criteria’s of player’s birth year and age (month). Please note that this will only apply in 2018 and going forward in 2019 we will only consider criteria based on player’s birth year. In the Excellence Grant Applications on the following pages you will notice that there are two options listed on the application. Option #1 is based on the player’s birth year and Option #2 is based on the player’s age (month). Please note the following: 1) The grants reset every year on January 1st no matter which Option you choose. 2) A player (does not apply to the College Tennis Criteria) is only allowed to choose Option #1 based on the players birth year or Option #2 based on the players age for all applications submitted in 2018. 3) The grant amounts that a player receives by meeting the criteria in 2018 remains the same: a. Players that meet one (1) of the criteria boxes below will receive $2000 b. Once the player has met two (2) boxes the player will receive $3000 c. Once a player meets three (3) boxes a player will receive $4000 4) The maximum grant a player may receive in 2018 for meeting the Excellence Grant Criteria is $9,000.
