ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is a non-profit organization that manages a portfolio of some of LA’s historically most underserved public schools and focuses on piloting innovations that can be scaled across the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Launched in 2008, the Partnership is a collaboration of LAUSD, the City of Los Angeles and the philanthropic sector, and today it serves more than 14,000 students across 16 campuses in Watts, Boyle Heights and South LA. The Partnership is the same size as the Beverly Hills and Santa Monica school districts combined, and is one of the largest public school turnaround initiatives in the nation. Over its first five years, Partnership schools have seen an increase in their four-year graduation rate from 36% to 58%. Last year, the Partnership schools outperformed the district and state in every subject area covered by the California Standards Tests (CSTs) in terms of growth. Moreover, the Partnership was the # 1 improving mid- to large-size school district in the state last year, the year before that, and over the last five years according to the Academic Performance Index (API). POSITION DESCRIPTION The Partnership is seeking a dynamic individual to support the Partnership’s home office operations. The role will be responsible for implementing all aspects of the home office operations in order to best support the Partnership’s home office team and schools. Areas of responsibility include the preparation of all financial transactions, managing relationships with outside vendors, performing research on best practices in talent management and benefits administration, managing the office space, and supporting the calendar of the Chief Operating Officer. The individual should be very organized, detail oriented and attracted to the mission of the Partnership. The Operations Associate will serve as a key member of the Partnership staff and will work with all members of the Partnership team, as well as many individuals at school sites. RESPONSIBILITIES The Operations Associate’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following areas: Finance and Business Affairs Support  Prepare financial transactions, including credit card statements, accounts payable packages, and transaction coding for approval  Manage day-to-day relationship with outside accounting firm, ensuring that transactions are processed smoothly and accurately

Manage preparation of data for annual audit of the financial statements and tax return filing Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to key members of the Partnership team Manage relationships with all organizational vendors and contractors Prepare and manage list of preferred vendors to be used by other members of the Partnership team Research best practices in financial management, such as fringe benefits plans and other benefits programs, and implement recommended changes Review organizational policies and refine employee handbook policies, where necessary Maintain tracking system for contracts and other critical files and records Support logistics of the Partnership Board meetings

Office Management  Manage overall office environment to reflect core values of the organization, as well as to maximize efficiency and minimize cost  Assist in managing IT infrastructure  Serve as day-to-day liaison between Partnership and landlord  Greet office visitors and help direct them to appropriate person in the office  Research best practices in office management and develop office policies, where needed  Order and maintain in-house office supplies  Maintain organizational chart and other critical documents for the office  Performs miscellaneous clerical work, such as filing, typing, relaying messages, operating office machines, and opening and routing mail Human Resources Support  Research best practices in employee on-boarding and off-boarding, implement recommended changes and manage processes  Manage employee benefits packages with brokers  Maintain personnel records and respond to requests from the census bureau, Employment Development Department, Franchise Tax Board, Internal Revenue Service and other agencies Other  Provide overall administrative support to the Chief Operating Officer  Manage the Chief Operating Officer’s calendar by scheduling meetings, inputting appointments and managing the Chief Operating Officer’s time  Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; Master’s degree a plus  1-3 years of experience in an educational or professional setting  Experience in an accounting or office management role and/or an educational nonprofit or classroom setting a plus  Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; adaptable when managing multiple, shifting priorities; ease at managing competing demands and determining priorities independently  Proven ability to execute effectively against strategy and exceed goals consistently  Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and limited direction  Outstanding quantitative analysis skills  Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate complex ideas simply and succinctly  Strong computer and technology skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel  Ability to work collaboratively with other experienced professionals, teachers, parents, students, Board members and other stakeholders  Ability to maintain discretion regarding confidential matters  Strong belief in the Partnership’s mission, approach, and core values  Reflective, life-long learner COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
