ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is a non-profit organization that manages a portfolio of some of LA’s historically most underserved public schools and focuses on piloting innovations that can be scaled across the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Launched in 2008, the Partnership is a collaboration of LAUSD, the City of Los Angeles and the philanthropic sector, and today it serves more than 14,000 students across 16 campuses in Watts, Boyle Heights and South LA. The Partnership is the same size as the Beverly Hills and Santa Monica school districts combined, and is one of the largest public school turnaround initiatives in the nation. Over its first five years, Partnership schools have seen an increase in their four-year graduation rate from 36% to 58%. Last year, the Partnership schools outperformed the district and state in every subject area covered by the California Standards Tests (CSTs) in terms of growth. Moreover, the Partnership was the # 1 improving mid- to large-size school district in the state last year, the year before that, and over the last five years according to the Academic Performance Index (API). POSITION DESCRIPTION The Partnership is seeking a dynamic individual to assist the Director and Manager of Talent in the pursuit of building a highly-effective cohort of teachers, school leaders, and home office staff for our turnaround organization. The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is a mission driven organization that is committed to transforming schools and providing world-class customer service to our schools. The Talent Associate’s core duties and responsibilities will focus on providing operational, customer service and candidate cultivation support in ways that maximize the impact of all talent management work across the Partnership schools and the Partnership home office. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Recruit, hire, and place a pool of effective teachers, school administrators and home office staff  Play an active role in the recruitment of the highest-caliber candidates to work in Partnership schools, including through candidate cultivation and relationship building with key partners  Be the consistently friendly and reliable face of the Partnership as you engage with candidates (through phone calls/phone screens, interviews, meet-and-greet events, and other occasions)  Manage online applicant management system that effectively and efficiently tracks all candidate information

Post vacancies as requested by Manager of Talent to a variety of online locations, including universities, professional associations, and career websites Produce high-quality printed materials for a variety of events and audiences, such as recruitment/meet-and-greet events, interview days, and welcome events Learn the policies and practices of the LAUSD hiring processes in order to understand how the Partnership works as a partner with schools and LAUSD Communicate clearly and effectively with LAUSD staff, school principals and assistant principals, teachers, senior Partnership staff, and candidates for school site positions Support spotless record-keeping throughout the entire talent management cycle in order to ensure all parties have up-to-date information and no details fall through the cracks Maintain a high degree of respect, humility, and confidentiality when engaging with school staff, home office staff, and candidates throughout the talent management cycle

Retain school site staff  Play a key role in on-boarding of new teachers and school site administrators, such as through collaboratively developing collateral materials and consistent processes for making new staff feel welcome and invested in the Partnership network  Track new hires through the on-boarding process and through their first 1-2 years in the network  Help Director of Talent maintain network-wide records of teachers’ and others’ involvement in Partnership initiatives such as teacher leadership programs and specific professional development opportunities in order to understand those programs’ impact on retention  Support other Partnership teams as they implement on-boarding processes for critical classified staff positions, such as School Administrative Assistants  Develop and support implementation of innovative ways to show appreciation and respect for all school site staff (such as through staff recognition programs, Teacher Appreciation Week, or other) 3. Support performance review/evaluation processes for teachers and administrators  Confirm teachers’ and school site administrators’ completion of the Teacher Growth and Development Cycle evaluation system using an online platform and available reports  Communicate frequently with members of the Teacher Development team at the Partnership to ensure pertinent information related to teacher observation and evaluation is shared  Collaboratively develop and maintain spreadsheets or other records of key indicators of teachers’ practice as needed  Support Director of Talent to revise tools and templates for school leader performance review, which are primarily utilized by the CAO and Senior Directors of School Transformation  Maintain confidential records of school leader performance review steps and support Senior Directors to ensure performance reviews are completed on an agreed-upon calendar

4. Support home office talent management  Create and maintain templates and samples of documents/tools used throughout the hiring process in order to support any home office hiring manager to kick off and run their own cycle of recruitment and hiring  Support home office staff in completing the performance review process, including participating in professional development for staff  Play an active role in developing and implementing innovative ways to appreciate and show respect for home office staff, such as through gathering feedback from staff, recognition programs, social events, and so on  Help develop a strategy and collateral materials/other tools for the on-boarding of home office staff 5. Track and analyze data in order to drive continuous improvement  Utilize Excel, Google docs, and other web-based databases to maintain precise records about all aspects of the talent management cycle (from recruiting and interviewing to hiring and evaluating staff at schools and in the home office)  Support data analysis around metrics that can help the Talent team better understand its impact on school site and home office effectiveness 6. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; Master’s degree a plus  1-3 years of experience in an education or professional setting  Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; adaptable when managing multiple, shifting priorities; ease at managing competing demands and determining priorities independently  Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with a high degree of accuracy and limited direction  Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate complex ideas simply and succinctly  Strong computer and technology skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, familiarity with Google docs, and interest in and ability to learn new platforms  Ability to work collaboratively with other experienced professionals including school principals, assistant principals, teachers, Partnership colleagues, and candidates for any of these roles  Ability to maintain discretion regarding confidential matters  Strong belief in the Partnership’s mission, approach, and core values  Reflective, life-long learner  Hold a valid California driver’s license
