Jr Engineering Technician Traffic JO 179511

Niagara Region has a full-time Junior Engineering Technician (Traffic) position available within the Transportation Division. Job Summary: Design and prepare drawings for traffic signal installation and modification projects. Perform in-field base plan survey tie-in of project related data including utility locates. Develop traffic signal design drawings and perform in-field signal audits for PHM-125 Legal Approval Drawings. Review drawings, plans and reports for compliance with Regional standards. Qualifications Include:  Completion of a 3-year community college program, with a diploma in Civil or Transportation Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Additional courses in AutoCAD Civil 3D are an asset.  Eligibility for membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) as a C. Tech or CET is preferred.  Eligibility for certification with International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) in Work Zone Safety and Traffic Signal Design Levels I and II.  Minimum of 1 year of experience in municipal/traffic engineering design, or suitable combination of education and related experience.  Must possess strong skills related to the design of traffic signal systems  Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and associated software such as Microsoft Office Applications, Windows, Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.
