July 2016 Dear Parents and Students As you are aware I am leaving S Peter’s Collegiate School after 23 enjoyable years. It is worth reflecting that when I joined the school as Head of Mathematics in 1993 I expected to stay no more than 5 to 10 years, or at least until attainment in maths matched that achieved in English. It was a real highlight to see the department develop and excel and I will always value the partnership I developed with the late Chris Sherrington. We seemed to get on so well because we both loved and enthused about maths and wanted students to do the same. It has therefore been great to see ex-students return on many occasions and to share their success stories in this respect. I have relished the opportunity to take up new opportunities within the school leading on initiatives such as gifted and talented education, thinking skills and many raising achievement initiatives. It has been an honour to present the success of these to national audiences at many conferences, most notably the annual Achievement Show in London. I am humbled that I have helped to show the school in such a positive light in the national arena. Although the last few years have been very challenging financially I have been honoured to have led the school over the past two years and hopefully leave it in a more secure position. It was certainly an opportunity that I never expected to occur. To help the school shape the future, I encourage you to complete the survey that you receive by email to inform the strategic planning exercise. I have already had significant discussions with Mr David Lewis, the Interim Principal, and wish him every success for the future. I will certainly never forget my time at S Peter’s and would like to thank you for all your support over the time I have been there. I hope to see some of you at future events should the opportunity occur and I look forward to celebrating the examination success of our students on results days in August. Finally I would like to wish all the other staff who are leaving S Peter’s School all the best for the future whether in their new roles or retirement. Best wishes then to Mrs Rollins, Mrs Farenden, Mrs Ross, Mrs Elwell, Mrs Leek, Mr Gregory, Ms Mulvey, Mrs Coulson, Mr Bruton and Mrs Jones. We pray that that God looks after them and supports them in whatever they do next. God Bless.
