JUST KEEP SWIMMING
May 2015
On to the Real World! Congratulations to our three seniors on graduating with their bachelor’s degree from Lakeland! Elizabeth Zimmerman, pitcher from Shawno, Wis., graduated with her degree in biology. “I have been so grateful for being part of the Lakeland College family. I am going to miss seeing my friends, teammates, coaches, and faculty every day. The support students get as student athletes and as people is amazing. At LC you are recognized as an individual and are encouraged in each aspect of your life. Getting the opportunity to be a student-athlete is like no other. To play the game you love with your friends and having your professors support you is unreal. After graduating I am working full time and signing up to take the DAT to get into dental school. Without the help and support of faculty, family, friends, and coaches, I would not be where I am today. I have been blessed with a wonderful career at LC and will cherish it forever.” Ashley Hough, outfielder from Rapid River, Mich., graduated with her degree in Biochemistry. “I’m going to miss the team chemistry more than anything. It was always great to be able to shoot out a text to hang out with the girls. I loved that we were inseparable and we became family only weeks after meeting each other. Lakeland allowed me to be successful on both the softball field and the classroom. With the support from faculty and our coaching staff, they motivated me to receive my degree in three years. I have received a full time job as the R & D coordinator at Saco Polymers and hope to continue my education in biomedical engineering with time.” Student coach Ryan Styza, from Milwaukee, Wis., graduated with his degree in exercise science and sport studies. He will continue pursuing a career in the coaching field. “I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to meet so many great people here at Lakeland that have given me memories and relationships that will last a lifetime. I will truly miss all that Lakeland has to offer and I feel honored to be part of the Lakeland family.”
