Prior to 2014, schools working with Kansas MTSS have ”applied” simply by voicing an interest in working with a trainer in a specific content area. They could choose to implement reading, math or behavior. Individual schools could also apply for training.

With new leadership and a increase in KS MTSS staff, the model has greatly changed since the spring of 2015. KS MTSS staff took over all training and the application process was implemented.

What we changed since the application process began.
• Changed application to quarterly review. • Changed our training from “years” to phases. • Must have district wide commitment for integrated model. www.ksdetasn.org/mtss
• Each district has an assigned lead that stays with their school for the duration of training. • Trainings must align with KSDE initiatives.
