Dear Parents/Carers

It's hard to believe but it's that time of the year again - the beginning of a new school year. Welcome back! Your children will receive the best education when you and the dedicated staff at Kents Hill Infant Academy work as a team. There's a lot of excitement ahead of us, including new people to meet, new books to read, new friends to make and new skills to master... and I look forward to you sharing in those exciting times. Road Safety As you may be aware, last year there was a massive increase in Child Pedestrian KSI casualties (Killed or Seriously Injured) as children returned to schools and colleges after the summer break, a 50% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. Attendance Alfie the Alligator says that the class with the best attendance this week is Class 2. Their attendance has been 100%. Well done Class 2.

At Kents Hill Infant Academy we put great store on good attendance. The more time we have with your children the better we can teach them. This is based on the belief that only by attending school regularly and punctually will children and young people be able to take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them. High attainment depends on good attendance. We seek to inspire every child with a passion for learning which will demonstrate to them that their presence in school is important and that they are missed when they are absent or late. The Government set a target of 95% attendance as an acceptable level. This figure allows at least 10 days absence due to illness over the year. No one expects children to attend school if they are unwell. For further information please see our Attendance Policy on the school website: www.kentshill-inf.essex.sch.uk

Thank you for your support in ensuring that your child has every opportunity to develop their full potential. Yours sincerely Mrs Helen King Head Teacher
