CARE PACKAGES FOR THE HOMELESS Thank you to those who have already donated to the homeless kits. Your donations are greatly appreciated. At this time we have enough funds to complete our project.

MAKE A GIFT TO REFORMATION FAITH FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

Across the United States and across denominational lines, mainline churches are declining in numbers. However, our calling to share the Gospel never changes. Mission projects and efforts to share the salvation of Jesus Christ are, by necessity, more cost efficient than ever before. The California-Nevada-Hawaii District innovatively responds to the opportunities for mission outreach. However, every gift counts. Can your congregation provide just $1 per baptized member? We can make a difference through mission grants by encouraging the creativity and energy of those people who are still following god’s call “to make disciples of all nations…” The offering box is located in the narthex.

COUPON SHOPPERS UNITE FOR ZION! You’ve seen the coupons in the Sunday paper; maybe you cut some out and use them yourself. Or maybe you download them to your smart phone. However you do it, keep Zion in mind when you see coupons for kitchen supplies such as Dawn or Palmolive detergent, Comet cleanser, napkins (200-250 count), zipper bags, and aluminum foil. Sometimes there is a limit of three items. Keep two and give one to Zion!

ST. NICHOLAS BREAKFAST Please join us for the St. Nicholas Breakfast at Zion Lutheran Church on December 13th at 9:30 am in the Parish Hall. We will have Christmas carols, stories, crafts and breakfast! Everyone is welcome. If time permits, join us for worship before the breakfast at the 8:00 a.m. service or after the breakfast at the 11:00 a.m. service. If you have any questions, please contact: Charles Klein (415-752-9451) or Mabel Abellera (415-601-9049 [email protected]) NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WILDFIRE DONATIONS                 The Butte and Valley Wildfires have destroyed nearly 1,000 residences combined and also resulted in death and injury. Pray for those who are suffering. While physically among us, Jesus gave us clues as to various ways to be about the business of better futures through feeding, clothing, ministering and visiting. Your donation in support of those now suffering as a result of the Butte and Valley Fires is a part of that mission. Simply go to the LSS website: www.lssnorcal.org and complete the donation form indicating that you wish your   donation to help those affected by the fires.             HEALTH TIP OF THE WEEK Like all plain breads, pita (or pocket) bread has almost no fat and only 70 to 80 calories per ounce. Whole-wheat pita, like wholewheat bread, is more nutritious than that made from refined wheat. Pita’s main advantage is its small serving size: a typical 7-inch pita weighs only 2 ounces and has only 150 calories, versus 4 ounces or more and at least 300 calories in the average long sandwich roll or bagel.

SUNDAY MORNING ACOLYTES Is your child, in 4th grade or above, interested in being an acolyte on Sunday mornings during our 8:00 am or 11:00 am worship services? If so, we would love to have them participate in our acolyte program. Your child will acolyte no more than once a month. We schedule acolytes every 3 months, based on what dates your child is available. We are in need of acolytes for the 8 a.m. service. Please contact Damian Arellano for more information: [email protected]
