SUMMER TERM Unit B2  Organisms and Energy  Common Systems

YEAR 10 Separate Science (Chemistry) AUTUMN TERM Unit C1  The Earth’s sea and atmosphere  Materials from the Earth  Acids

SPRING TERM Unit C1/C2  Obtaining and using metals  Fuels  Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table

SUMMER TERM Unit C2  Ionic compounds and analysis  Covalent compounds and separation techniques  Groups in the Periodic Table  Chemical Reactions

SPRING TERM Unit P1/P2  Generation and transmission of electricity  Energy and the future  Static and Current electricity  Controlling and Using electric currents

SUMMER TERM Unit P2  Motions and forces  Momentum, energy, work and power  Nuclear Fission and nuclear fusion  Benefits and drawbacks of using radioactive materials

YEAR 10 Separate Science (Physics) AUTUMN TERM Unit P1  Visible light and the Solar System  The electromagnetic spectrum  Waves and the Universe  Waves and the Earth

YEAR 10 Core Science AUTUMN TERM Biology  Classification, variation and inheritance  Responses to a changing environment  Problems of and solutions to a changing environment

SPRING TERM Chemistry  The Earth’s sea and atmosphere  Materials from the Earth  Acids  Obtaining and using metals  Fuels

SUMMER TERM Physics  Visible light and the Solar System  The electromagnetic spectrum  Waves and the Universe  Waves and the Earth  Generation and transmission of electricity  Energy and the future All students will study each area but on a rotational basis. Once all subject areas have been fully taught they will have built in revision time before their Core Science GCSE exams in the Summer Term (3 exams). Usually during the Autumn term a Controlled Assessment Unit will be undertaken which contributes 25% towards their overall exam result. Once their exams are over in the Summer Term another Controlled Assessment Unit will commence in preparation for their Year 11 Additional Science Course or Additional Applied Course.

YEAR 11 Separate Science (Biology) AUTUMN TERM Unit B2/B3 Controlled Assessment Unit

SPRING TERM Unit B3  Behaviour  Biotechnology

SUMMER TERM Revision of Units 1, 2 and 3 before students leave.

Unit B3  Control Systems

YEAR 11 Separate Science (Chemistry) AUTUMN TERM Unit C2/C3 Controlled Assessment Unit Unit C2/C3  Quantitative Chemistry  Qualitative Analysis

SPRING TERM Unit C3  Quantitative Analysis  Electrolytic Processes  Gases, Equilibria and Ammonia  Organic Chemistry

SUMMER TERM Revision of Units 1, 2 and 3 before students leave.

SPRING TERM Unit P3  Production, uses and risks of ionising radiation from radioactive sources  Motion of particles  Kinetic theory and gases

SUMMER TERM Revision of Units 1, 2 and 3 before students leave.

YEAR 11 Separate Science (Physics) AUTUMN TERM Unit P2/P3 Controlled Assessment Unit Unit P3  Radiation in treatment and medicine  X-rays and ECGs

YEAR 11 Additional Science AUTUMN TERM Biology  The building blocks of cells  Organisms and energy  Common systems

SPRING TERM Chemistry  Atomic structure and the Periodic Table  Ionic compounds and analysis  Covalent compounds and separation techniques  Groups in the Periodic Table  Chemical Reactions  Quantitative Chemistry

SUMMER TERM Physics  Static and current electricity  Controlling and using electric currents  Motions and forces  Momentum, energy, work and power  Nuclear fission and nuclear fusion  Benefits and drawbacks of using radioactive materials All students will study each area but on a rotational basis. Once all subject areas have been fully taught they will have built in revision time before leaving and their Additonal Science GCSE exams in the Summer Term (3 exams). The Controlled Assessment Unit will have been completed during the Summer Term of Year 10 and will contribute 25% towards their overall exam result.

YEAR 11 Additional Applied Science AUTUMN TERM Unit A191 Science and Society 20% of the overall grade

SPRING TERM Unit A192 Science of Materials and Production 20% of the overall grade

SUMMER TERM Revision before the students leave and any missing coursework pieces.

Coursework unit A193 A Work Related Portfolio which will be controlled assessment throughout Year 11 worth 60% of the overall grade. In the Summer Term students will be tested on the taught units in two exams.
