Small Group Discussion Questions From Sermon Notes on Sunday, September 20, 2015
Remind: Them of the point of group: That we would all become R.E.A.L. Them of the church goal: As a family of believers who love God and love their neighbors, we commit to love where we live with the wisdom of grace and truth (Col. 4:5-6). Prayer:
Describe a time when you have felt unloved by a neighbor or they may have likely felt unloved by you. Compare Mark 12:30-31 and Galatians 5:13-14. What is similar? What is different? Do you think the “Great Commandment” can be reduced to “love your neighbor as yourself”? How? What do you think Jesus meant when he said “love your neighbor as yourself?” Look again at Romans 13:8-10. What cultural sins would be eradicated from human experience if people lived by the principle, “love your neighbor as yourself”? How would our world change? What obstacles would you need to overcome to practice loving your literal neighbors as yourself? How could our small group help you? Are you willing to commit to learn to love where you live? What is one step you could take to begin to love your neighbors as yourself?
Jesus, as we begin this semester help us realize your love for us more deeply and grow in our love for our neighbors.
