KINGSBOROUGH Game & Competition Cheer Teams 2013 - 2014

LET’S START A TIDAL WAVE OF TRADITION KCC CHEER The Kingsborough Community College Athletic Department supports and directs the Wave Cheer Team. As a sport team in the athletic department the cheer team adheres to the role and mission of the Kingsborough Community College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The KCC Cheer Team is a vital part of the athletic program providing entertainment and motivation for our teams; as acting ambassadors for the college participating at countless events and community service projects throughout the year. The Wave Cheer Team is looking for intelligent and energetic athletes that enjoy cheering and would like the opportunity to cheer at the college level. At KCC we cheer at all of the home basketball games and select sporting events throughout the year. At the games you will have the chance to cheer in front of a tidal wave screaming KCC Wave fans! The KCC Cheer team program was established as an athletic sport in the FALL of 2008 and we are looking to build a very strong tradition. Members of the team will be recognized as true spirit leaders on campus. The 20-25 members will be highly visible throughout the year and can be seen at athletic events, campus programs and volunteering within the KCC community. The team practices 3 times a week (tentatively set for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) also there will be a required athletic study hall, as well as required team cardio training. Though a number of hours are required each week to prepare for events, students are able and encouraged to seek participation in other organizations. The KCC cheer team is led by a tandem coaching staff with many years of experience!

GAME DAY*BLUE TEAM* Competition Team *Gold Team/Cheer* Level: There are 5 level choices for our cheer teams. The “level” refers to the type of stunts, pyramids, and tumbling that a team can perform. They are numbered 1 to 5; five being the most difficult. The level is determined solely by the coaching staff. We are looking for mastered skills in each of these levels. Mastered is not the ability to throw the skill, it is the ability to perform the skill with good form and with a certain level of perfection. Please read placement below for more information.

Placement: There may be athletes on any given team that tumble at a different level than the rest of their teammates. We try to match up the athletes by level as best we can, but please remember that stunting, pyramids, jumps, dance, motions, dedication and determination are huge factors as well. There may be athletes on any given level without mastered tumble skills. We chose our teams based on the positions we need to fill (base, flyer, tumblers, etc.). Every athlete is on a team for a reason, please trust the staff. My teams have done well and I am confident in our decisions. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
