Leverage Twitter for Your Business on Your Schedule It’s true that social media requires upkeep, but you do not need to spend hours each day to make an impact. Here are your daily plans for leveraging Twitter with the time you have available. Each part of the daily plans has a time estimate next to it. However, you may find that some days you need to spend more time sending free resources than you do adding people to your lists. If so, just distribute your time differently but do not add time! Stay efficient and on task. A few things to remember - any time you aim to add value, add value. Be intentional, be consistent… send your leads an article or a resource that you truly think will be of interest to them. One of your top values should be engagement that is worthwhile - block out some time each week to run through your resources and pull out a couple that you know will be an over-the-top value add for your leads!
If you have 10 minutes: 1. Log in, respond to the most recent notifications – reply, say thank you for retweeting, etc. Same with any incoming direct messages that do not require an in-depth response. 3 minutes. 2. Write a tweet: “Working on ___ today – feeling productive! What are you working on today? #(use one of your hashtags)” a few seconds. 3. Check your followers – any new people? Copy and paste this message to 5 new followers (or less. Depending on your speed, Twitter will block you before or after 10): “Hi there! Thanks so much for following. Wanted to introduce myself and say hello. Looking forward to keeping in touch!” Lay the groundwork. 2 minutes. 4. Add value for someone: Any new messages from people you’ve already been in conversation with? Someone liked a tweet related to a certain topic? Send a related free resource. “Hey again – thought you might find this of interest. It’s a ___ guide that will ____. Have a great week!” Aim to send to 3 people. 5 minutes.
If you have 30 minutes: 1. Log in, respond to any recent notifications - Reply, say thanks, etc. 3-5 minutes. 2. Write a tweet: something you are working on, something you are reading, something for a local hashtag. Add one of your hashtags. If you are not rotating tips in your content plan and they are relevant for your industry, write a tip. 1 minute. 3. Check your direct messages – follow up with any incoming messages. If you are at a point in the conversation where it makes sense to send one of your free resources, share it with the person you are messaging. Aim for 3-5 free resources sent if you are already in conversations with followers. 5-7 minutes. 4. Send new messages – check out your new followers. If any sound like they could be leads, reach out. Aim to reach out to between 5-10 people to introduce yourself. 5-7 minutes. 5. Tweet 3 influencers: respond to something an influencer has tweeted. Retweeting is fine, but take the extra step to add to or comment on their content. 5 minutes. 6. Build a list, or add to an existing one: Create a list for influencers you want to target, guest blogging opportunities, potential leads, whatever else you feel fit. If you’ve already done this, try to add 5 people to a list. 5-7 minutes.
If you have 1 hour: 1. Log in, respond to any recent notifications 5 minutes. 2. Write a tweet - If you’re not rotating tips in your content plan, write a tip. Otherwise, talk about something you use in your business that you love. An app that makes your life easier, a book that taught you something, etc. @ the relevant person or business in this tweet (if you mention something) and use one of your hashtags. 1 minute. 3. Check your direct messages – reply as needed. Send free resources where fit. Ask questions about how people got started in their businesses, or what they are struggling with. The goal is to have a conversation by asking open-ended questions. 10 minutes. 4. Send new messages – check your new followers. Can you identify 10 who sound like potential leads? Reach out and start a conversation. 10 minutes. 5. Tweet influencers – quote one of their content tweets. Skim the article/blog post/etc they posted, and find one key thing you want to compliment or add to. Aim for 3. 6. Add people to your lists – try to add a total of 10 people to your lists, and more if you are finding a lot of relevant people. 30 minutes. 7. Follow the followers of influencers – check through their followers for people who sound like your ideal leads, and follow them. Aim for 10. 4 minutes.
