LOCAL NEWS & UPDATES September 2015 http://ramblingrides.wordpress.com/ [email protected] @bexleycyclists Bexley Cyclists lcc.org.uk/boroughs/bexley

Active Members Needed! Can you help propel Bexley Cyclists ? Our local group could do more, with more active members. As a member of LCC in the borough, you’re already considered a ‘Bexley Cyclist’ and would love you to get involved and help us to achieve more for cycling in our area! We want to increase our scrutiny of proposals by developers, by Bexley Council and T fL which might offer an opportunity to encourage pedal powered travel. You'll see below some examples below. We also welcome offers to provide material and help edit our website or Facebook pages, and any activities you would like to promote. Please do get in touch with us if you interested or what to find out more!

NCN1 near 'Jolly Farmers', Crayford A developer has provided a cycle path leading towards Dartford Creek Path, an off-road part of Sustrans nation cycle network route 1 connecting with the Thames Path. Look out for the new signing to guide cyclists and walkers across the busy A206; and be wary of the many HGV's in the area. The 'Jolly Farmers' pub has been demolished, so a better name for this location is now needed.

Bourne Road & London Road, Crayford Roadworks at this junction should be completed soon, including lanes to help cyclists on this new roundabout. We were not aware of these changes during the design stage. Let us know what you think about the new layout.

Bexleyheath Town Centre Public consultation is likely in the autumn on a new layout from the Bowling Centre, along Albion Road

through the junctions with Townley Road, Highland Road and Gravel Hill, up to Watling Street by the Council Offices. Please look out for this consultation and let Bexley Council and others know what you think.

Bellegrove Road, Welling When the junctions with Westwood Lane and Station Road were resurfaced in May, we successfully lobbied for more advance stop lines, to reduce the danger from turning traffic.

Ride London 2015 Our guided ride from Abbey Wood was enjoyed by about 25 riders. Thanks to Frances and the team of marshals - Bola, Pat, Robert, Chris and Rob for all their efforts before and on the day.

Next meeting Our next meeting will be on Thursday 17th September from 7:30pm until about 9pm at Royal Oak, Mount Road, Bexleyheath. All welcome, please do come along and see what we’re about!
