Looking Forward to Christmas Sermon Discussion Questions Week of December 3, 2017
The Feasts of Israel illustrate what God gives us through the coming of Christ. Leviticus 23; Colossians 2:16 - 17
Getting Started •
What is your favorite food during the Christmas season?
Discuss 1. Why did God establish the special feasts for Israel (see Leviticus 23:1-2)? 2. God is always calling us to something better, His plan. Through the act of coming together to worship God, how would this be different from what other nations were doing? 3. What is corporate worship? How can this be a time of encouragement? 4. One of the purposes of the feasts was to celebrate who God is. Why is it important that we take time to reflect on who God is? 5. OT laws were designed to make Israel stand out as being different. God wants us to follow Him and be set apart from the world. Why is this important? 6. What are you doing this Christmas season to be set apart? 7. What are you doing this Christmas season to remember who God is? 8. Why is Christmas a season of hope? 9. Share any additional insights you took away from the sermon?
Prayer
I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. Psalm 34:1-9
