Winemaking notes | Lorna’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon 86% Petit Verdot 14% Warm days and cool nights in the Northern Barossa of 2009 made ripening conditions ideal for the two late ripening varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. These two varieties principally used by the wineries of Bordeaux, sit side by side at Ebenezer in the Barossa Valley’s north, on our property previously owned by Lorna Roehr. Vineyard This site was chosen specifically for its sandy clay loam top soil over a limestone and clay base, making the vines work hard for water and giving the fruit richness and depth. Ebenezer (Sub Region) – This wine is sourced from two 15 year old vineyards which virtually sit side by side in the North of the Barossa Valley. Elevation 280 metres, an annual rainfall of 500mm, warm to hot summer days, cool/cold nights. Winemaking Open Fermented - Hand Pump overs –Basket pressed – Hand plunged. Maturation – 20 months in 2nd and 3rd fill French and American Oak Hogshead Barrels. Cases Produced - 100 Alcohol 15.5% Tasting Notes A classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot from a quintessential Barossa Valley Cabernet vintage shows compelling aromas of cedar, dried currants and eucalypt. Classically structured Cabernet with restrained flavours of red currant, mint and black tea; fine tannins and fresh acidity. Best served with grilled red meat, creamy and cheesy dishes.
