MAKERSPACE CAMPS FOR KIDS! JUNE 2017
Each week in June, we’re offering a 3-day summer camp where your child, 3rd-8th grade this fall, gets to work with robotics, gadgets, cardboard construction, coding games/apps/websites, and inventing new stuff to improve the world around us!
WHAT IS A MAKERSPACE?
Our ESSDACK Makerspace provides hands-on, creative ways to encourage learners to design, experiment, build, and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering, and tinkering.
SESSIONS OFFERED Week 1 — May 31-June 2 — 9 am - 2 pm
Robots Work for Us-When We Figure the Program! (grades 3-8) Have you ever wanted a robot that would clean your room or take the trash out for you? So have we! Let’s dig into the fun of learning robotics using several different programs and through different activities. We can practice telling them what to do with programming obstacle courses or even figuring out how to take out the trash! Join us if you think you have what it takes!
The Guts Inside Our Gadgets (grades 3-8)
Are you always getting in trouble for taking apart things that are laying around the house? A curious mind is a great thing, as long as we’re doing something great with it! Let’s learn how to perform an autopsy…on everyday electronic gadgets! And then we can take all those parts to build one awesome new Frankenstein- style thing! Week 2 — June 5-7 — 9 am - 2 pm
Building a Beautiful Cardboard World (grades 3-8) So you love to play games? And you also like to build things? We do too! Come to the ESSDACK Makerspace to build! You could make an arcade, a carnival, robots, cars, a spaceship, a maze or MORE! We’ll provide the cardboard and tools tools and you bring the creativity! Inspired by Caine’s Arcade. Come build something amazing out of cardboard, recycled materials, and imagination! Week 3 — June 12-14 — 9 am - 2:00 pm
Tabletop Inventions - Bring Out Your Inner Genius! (grades 3-8)
Tabletop inventing? YES! We will bring out our inner inventors to design and build items to put on your tabletop OR we can use the tabletop to create our vision of something new! From textiles to technology…circuits to sewing… rockets to robotics, we will spend 3 days launching our innovations into reality! Week 4 — June 27-29 — 9 am - 2 pm
Code Coding is creative, fun and easy! From unplugged (offline) activities to programing a robot, we will explore coding through designing games, apps, websites, and more.

We have contracted with local, licensed teachers who are all first-aide certified, to design and run these camps.
