NEED TO KNOW Located in the posh neighborhood of Bonifacio Global City in the Philippines’ capital, Manos Nail Lounge (manosnaillounge .com) exudes a homey yet chic ambiance. The space includes cozy, nook-like manicure benches, rattan chairs that serve as pedicure stations, a massage space with tall wicker seating overlooking sweeping city views, and a reception area where patrons can sip beverages and nibble on local bean-to-bar chocolate while awaiting their services.
Founders Ynez Alcid, Felice Caringal and Carissa Mangubat envisioned Manos Nail Lounge as a business that would support other local enterprises. They employ women from marginalized communities and, when hosting events, they work with a catering division of Mano Amiga Academy, which provides education and development services to children from low-income families. “Our suppliers are social enterprises; we find ways to highlight their advocacies in our spa and incorporate their businesses into our operations,” explains Alcid.
SIGNATURE SERVICE Manos Nail Lounge’s best-selling menu item is its Manos Signature Spa Treatment (60-75 min./$20 USD), which features a foot soak, exfoliating green tea and lemongrass scrub, and an invigorating massage. Clients also love the popular Dry Back Massage (30 min./$10 USD), which soothes tense muscles. During any service, guests can indulge in organic coffee, hot tea and even a cocktail (or two!).
